I don't have time to chase people for little things like this so I'll let my review do the talking.Bad seller, dishonest, cheat. I never received this item. What else can I say.
Landmarks like Taj Mahal and Forbbiden City mean and convey something. Pair a superb wine with superb food, instead of having yet another wine (whether it's superb or not) to compete with it. As many previous reviewers said, this DVD is made from live performance in India's Taj Mahal and China's Forbidden City. India and China just don't mix, in the sense of culture. For a native from one of the nations like me, kneading Chinese and Indian together just does not work. Because this is a DVD and much is about "visual" stuff. That's understandable.
The fact is, the cultural gap or difference of these two nations is HUGE, GIGANTIC, or whatever you'd call it, especially in the meanings conveyed through the symbolic Taj Mal and Forbbiden City. Both are Asian countries and oriental in sense of culture.
Why this is the matter or why does this matter. For most of the people, though, India and China are just two foreign countries, "alienish" and exotic; not much difference.
Very bad combination. Unfortunately, mixing Taj Mahal and Forbidden City, with one scene of Indian people clapping their hands and the next scene of the Great Wall silhouette, causes me impulses of vomiting.
Same thing for music.In term of audio effect, I suppose it's just good. It's that simple.
The settings of the live performance and the editing of the DVD tried to put much ethnic or cultural elements related to the two nations.
Completely captivating. The Taj Mahal, gleams in the background, as well as scenes from China, "the forbidden city". There are many instruments introduced that I've never even seen or heard before. Captivating. The music stayed with me for days. Not only that, but the performers themselves are a marvel to watch. From the moment this concert begins, you are transported by Yanni's music. How can so much talent fit onto one stage.
The new conductor was very bland compared to Shardad, the new percussionist was pretty good, Ric was great, of course. Now and then a voice or two is okay.but continually using the girls and their synchronized moves. In the Acropolis concert, Yanni's music is crisp and clear and beautiful. The new keyboardist was spectacular. At one time, with the long trumpet solo, it was just another piece of jazz.IMHO. I stopped everything and put this DVD in the player just as soon as the postman brought it today.
I really liked Adagio and Tribute.and that's about it. No thanks.it shouldn't take that to get Yanni's music across. I expected to be captivated, just like I was with the Acropolis DVD. And what's with the go-go girls. And I really missed Charlie. Unfortunately, this is one of those concerts that I can listen to a couple of songs and then go about my business.
In the Taj Mahal/Forbidden City concert, Yanni's music is loud and busy.leaving the listener with very little opportunity to appreciate any of the components.
